LEGO Universe was a massively multiplayer online game where players took on a LEGO minifigure and traveled themed worlds fighting the Maelstrom, joining one of four factions, taming pets, racing, and building on their own property with bricks. Developed by NetDevil for the LEGO Group and distributed by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, it launched on Windows and OS X in October 2010 and shut down in January 2012.

I am credited on the game, but my work was NetDevil’s internal web systems rather than the game itself. I also sat in on early planning and estimate meetings, before development ramped up.

What I worked on

  • Built the PTO approval system, covering requests, calendars, and the approval chain for the whole studio
  • Built the job application system, where applications came in through NetDevil’s public site, then routed through internal review with automated responses back to candidates
